The ex-Scotland manager is in pole position to land the role.
Thomas Christiansen was sacked last night after failing to win any of his last seven games, and it Gordon Strachan that the bookies make most likely to be next to jump on the Leeds United merry-go-round. It has to be said that Strachan is a surprising candidate but he is now as short as 2/1.
The former Scotland manager has had 14% of bets on him to take the job since Christiansen’s departure. 31% of bets have come for ex-England manager Steve McClaren after he was spotted at Elland Road on Saturday. However, reports suggest he won’t be considered for the job and the 'Wally with the Brolly' has gone out to as big as 7/1.
An outsider for the position, Marco Silva, who was recently dismissed from Watford has attracted some interest and 10% of bets have been placed on him to take over at 6/1.
Garry Monk, who guided Leeds to a 7th place finish last season before choosing to move on to Middlesbrough is a complete rank outsider and is available at 33/1. Although, we are pretty sure that wouldn’t prove too popular amongst Leeds supporters.
