Yet a change of fortune saw two huge victories over London sides Arsenal and Chelsea, contributing to Howe’s Bournemouth side going the whole of January unbeaten.
The 40-year-old was rewarded with the Manager of the Month award for his fine efforts but was maybe enjoying the limelight too much, as his side was battered away to relegation-candidates Huddersfield 4-1 last weekend.
However, currently best priced at 50-1 to be the next manager to receive the boot, it is fair to say Howe should be safe for the time being.
The return of Callum Wilson has added more fire power to Howe’s front line and there has even been several bets from Oddschecker punters for the uncapped 25-year-old to be on the plane to Russia come June.
