West Ham relegation odds tumble after day of crisis at the London Stadium

Bookies have slashed the Hammers to 7/4 for the drop after 3-0 home defeat to Burnley.

It’s been a weekend to forget for West Ham United but it could yet get even worse for the Hammers as they are well and truly in a relegation scrap.

The bookies have been quick to cut West Ham after a 0-3 defeat to Burnley at home which led to scenes of protest on and off the field.

Available at 9/2 on Friday, West Ham are now 9/4 for a relegation to the Second tier for the first time since 2012.

Punters have been quick to take these prices, with a quarter of all relegation bets going on the East Londoners.

Only one side has received more bets in that time and that is Southampton. The Saints (as well as Mauricio Pellegrino) are under increasing pressure and a 3-0 defeat for them yesterday sees them one point outside the bottom three.

The Saints are a best price of 2/1 to go down, which is a massive contrast to their pre-season odds of 25/1.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Things reached a nadir at the London Stadium yesterday and if things can’t be improved soon, a relegation looks a real possibility. With one of the tightest scraps at the bottom of the table for years starting to pan out, there could well be value in the 9/2 that the Hammers were. Bookies quickly cut down to 9/4 and could well drop further if the current crisis continues.
