Former England manager in the frame for Oxford United job - Sven to take charge of the Yellow Men

Sven Goran Eriksson is being backed to become the new Oxford United manager.

The former England international manager is attracting a steady flow of bets to become the unlikely next manager of the U’s.

Despite Karl Robinson remaining favourite with the bookies to take over the manager-less side, punters across the country are disregarding the Charlton boss.

Sven has attracted a whopping 43% of all bets on the next manager in the last 24 hours, shooting him in to the second favourite for the job.

That’s replicated in his odds to take over, with the Swede coming in from 40/1 at the start of the month (March 9), into as short as 5/1 as of today (March 19).

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “The hunt for the new Oxford boss has dragged on and on, with no conclusion in sight for Yellows fans.

“Owners have promised the ‘wow’ factor to return to the club, citing the fact they’re looking to bring in a manger with pedigree to see them rocket up the leagues.

“All signs point to that man being Sven, and taking into account the flurry of bets on the former England manager – it’s easy to see why this story is gathering pace.”
