His 'Wordie' of a strike against Juventus has got everybody talking.
Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is being overwhelmingly backed to regain his Ballon d’Or crown, following his stunning overhead strike against Juventus.
His star-studded performance in the Champions League has resulted in a plethora of punters backing the Portuguese player to win his third individual honour in successive years.
Following the last-16 tie with the Italian giants, he’s attracted 61% of all bets to be crowned the best player in the world, despite being previously shunned after a ‘slow’ start to the season.
Ronaldo is third favourite for the prestigious individual honour, behind Lionel Messi (11/8) and Neymar (7/2).
He’s been cut from 9/1 into 11/2 following the display, and is trending to go even shorter.
Following the stunning performance which almost certainly clinched Madrid a semi-final spot, Ronaldo has now overtaken Kevin De Bruyne (6/1) in the running.
Madrid’s 3-0 demolition job of Juventus has resulted in Los Blancos being slapped with the favourites tag in the Champions League.
They’re now 127/50 to retain their UCL crown for a third year in a row, slightly ahead of bitter rivals Barcelona (3/1) and Premier League champions-in-waiting Manchester City.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Weeks ago Real Madrid were facing up to the reality of a trophy-less season, but their European form has seen Los Blancos dream of an historic third consecutive Champions League crown.
“Ronaldo, as ever, is the star and his goal last night is worthy of any accolade that they can throw at him.”
