Oddschecker users have pinpointed the Tottenham striker as a great bet to retain his accolade.
Anfield was rocking last night as Liverpool annihilated Manchester City 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. The only minor concern for the Liverpool faithful was that Mo Salah had to be removed due to injury early in the second half.
The injury caused punters to instantly search for an edge in the betting and it’s in the Premier League top goalscorer market where they think they may have found it.
Since Liverpool’s talisman departed down the tunnel on Wednesday night, 93.4% of all bets have been on the man next in the market, Harry Kane.
Kane has just returned from an injury lay-off himself, returning to the Spurs squad last weekend earlier than expected. It is worth noting Mo Salah’s groin injury has been played down as just precautionary.
Even if that is the case, the Tottenham striker still certainly looks value at 7/1. He came alive at the end of last season, scoring ten goals in his last seven games, including seven in his last two. If he can get anywhere near that sort of form and manage one a game, he would still equal the record for goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season.
Liverpool’s Egyptian winger may be five goals ahead of Kane in the league currently, but you wouldn’t be surprised if Salah was saved for their European exploits now the Reds have one foot in the semi-finals.
Harry Kane has won the Golden Boot two years running and was available at 14/1 to make it three in a row yesterday. He’s since been cut to as short as 9/2 with one bookmaker whilst a best price of 7/1 is still on offer.
The only other possible rival is Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero who is priced at 33/1. It would be a huge ask for the Argentine to make up the deficit, especially as he has his own fitness concerns to contend with.
Oddschecker spokesperson, George Elek: Harry Kane absolutely loves causing havoc at the end of a Premier League campaign, and he will have to do the same to land the spoils this time around. Last year he netted seven in the last two games of the domestic season, so could certainly make the most of any Salah lay-off.'
