Punters believe the Premier League relegation battle is already over

West Brom, Stoke and Southampton make up the bottom three and money is piling in on all three to go down.

A couple of months ago we were potentially looking at one of the tightest relegation battles in Premier League history.

But after West Brom and Stoke’s results this weekend, punters believe that the bottom three has already been sorted, with no further movement expected between 18th, 19th and 20th.

One bookie has priced up odds to pick the three teams to go down in a relegation treble. And it’s no surprise to see the current bottom three of West Brom, Stoke and Southampton the 1/3 favourite.

With none of these sides picking up a desperately needed win (and Southampton not in Premier League action), it looks ominous for all three sides below the dotted line.

And punters have unanimously backed this selection, with half of all bets being placed on this market going on these three clubs.

The next best-backed selection an outsider: Huddersfield are not out of danger by any means and the trio of the Terriers, West Brom and Stoke pays out at 14/5. 13% of bets have gone on this trio.

In terms of individual prices, Stoke are now as short as 1/20 to go down after a damaging draw at home to Burnley. Southampton are 4/9 and now they are out of the FA Cup, all focus can go on the Saints’ efforts to remain in the Premier League.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “It looks like there may be no relegation battle on the last day after all, if punters have it correct. The three Premier League stalwarts of West Brom, Stoke and Southampton would not have expected to be where they are now last August, but the promoted teams have been a cut above this season. 1/3 for the trio to go down seems more than fair.”
