A draw on the final day against Reading was enough to ensure a record EIGHTH promotion as manager for Neil Warnock, who will relish taking on the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola next season.
The Bluebirds went straight back down last time but they will be hopeful to survive this time having learned from their mistakes. Bookies believe there isn’t a lot in it, but they have installed them at odds-on to beat the drop.
Cardiff are currently 4/5 to emulate the three promoted clubs from 2016-17 and stay in the Top Tier. If you think that history will repeat itself, they are 10/11 to go down. In comparison, Watford are 9/4 for relegation next season, while Brighton are 5/2 and West Ham 4/1 respectively.
Owner Vincent Tan will make funds available again and it promises to be a big party in the Welsh capital tonight. The only thing left to find out is if we will see a South Wales derby in the Premier League next season – Some Bluebirds fans may even want Swansea to stay up now!
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Neil Warnock has done wonders at Cardiff in less than two years and he has steered them back to the big time. Money will no doubt come in on a relegation but bookies believe they have more than a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League next year, as evidenced by their odds-on price for survival.”
