Bookies reckon there’s a 1/4 nailed on chance he’ll be elsewhere for the 18/19 season
Swansea City centre back Alfie Mawson is now odds-on favourite to join Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
Following Swansea’s defeat at the hands of Southampton last night, bookies have slashed odds to just 4/5 that Mawson joins Pochettino and co in North London.
The odds shift follows news that the Welsh side are almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League, with a move elsewhere likely according to bookmakers.
They claim there’s only a 3/1 chance he stays with Swansea next season, and have priced him up at 1/4 to be plying his trade elsewhere for the 18/19 season.
Spurs are reportedly keen on a swoop for both Mawson and Saints left-back Ryan Bertrand in the summer, with a number of defenders likely leaving White Hart Lane.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Mawson is one of the few Swansea players who has done their reputation no harm this season.
“The England international will surely be one of the first out of the door this summer whether the Welsh club are relegated or not.
“Spurs will be after a centre-back and, given their manager's history of developing home-grown talent, this is a move that makes sense.”
