With Allardyce's departure from Goodison confirmed the Shakhtar manager has proved popular in the betting.
Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca is the punters’ pick for next Everton manager, following news that Sam Allardyce will not be in charge next season.
Despite being second favourite for the job to Marco Silva, it’s Fonseca who’s attracting the lion’s share of attention in the market, attracting 36% of all bets.
That’s affected his odds for the job, with bookies cutting him from 7/1 yesterday into just 17/10 as of today.
Silva (4/6) remains favourite for the vacancy, with Louis Van Gaal (10/1), Andrew Villas-Boas (20/1) are the other featured candidates.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “It has been reported that Watford will look to sue Everton should they appoint Silva, potentially putting off punters.
“They’re swerving the man at the top of the list in favour of Fonseca, with a flurry of bets coming in for the Portuguese manager in the last 12 hours.”
