Antonio Conte may have won the FA Cup yesterday but he’s an outsider to still be Chelsea manager come August.
It was a day of celebration yesterday for Antonio Conte and Chelsea as they captured the FA Cup for the first time in six years by beating Manchester United 1-0 at Wembley.
Eden Hazard’s first-half penalty was enough to secure silverware for the Blues as Gary Cahill remarked that the win ‘saved our season’.
It may not be enough however for Conte to keep his job, as reports and indeed the betting are suggesting that it is very unlikely we will see the Italian in the Stamford Bridge dugout next August.
As It stands, Conte is 5/1 best price to be Chelsea manager come the first league game of next season, implying a 17% chance. Luis Enrique is the 2/1 favourite and Maurizio Sarri at 3/1.
Enrique is also the favourite in the next permanent manager market at 5/2 best price, with Sarri again just behind at a best price of 4/1.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “While Antonio Conte has secured silverware in each of his two seasons at Chelsea, it still looks like he will be shown the door this summer. Winning the Blues’ eighth FA Cup is still a great achievement for the Italian but it’s one that could be his final act at the club, with a best price of 5/1 that the 48-year-old will still be in charge come August.”
