Emery emerges as potential Wenger replacement

Unai Emery has had his odds drastically shorted to take over the helm at Arsenal.

Unai Emery has had his odds drastically shorted to take over the helm at Arsenal.
Just over a week ago, Unai Emery was 28-1 to take the managerial positon at Arsenal but as of today, he is as short as 5-4.

Mikel Arteta has been expected to be announced by Arsenal and the betting did reflect that, having been as short as 1-6 as early as 9am this morning.

However, now best priced at 8-11, maybe the deal is yet to get over the line and Arsenal may well be speaking with the former PSG manager. Either way, Arsenal don’t appear to be rushing into a decision as they look to appoint a new manager for the first time in 22 years.

The rumours of Thierry Henry leaving his role as Belgium assistant to enter the spotlight at the Emirates appear to be nothing more than that.

It appears we are set for a two horse race for the vacancy but with the Arsenal board keeping their cards close to their chest, it is difficult to say who will be in the dugout come August.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “Many people expected Wenger and PSG to be the perfect fit but not many predicted Emery to Arsenal.

Emery has proven at both PSG and Sevilla that he is a world class manager and I don’t think Arsenal fans would grumble if he was to take over.”
