England are bringing the World Cup home

Since England's biggest ever World Cup win, fans have been backing the Lions to WIN the World Cup.

It may have only been Panama, but yesterday the nation was celebrating as if England had already won the World Cup. England had scored SIX goals at a World Cup for the first time in their history and after Harry Kane’s last minute winner over Tunisia, Southgate’s side sit top of Group G.

The 6-1 victory was best-priced at a huge 125/1 with Paddy Power and Betfair but Oddschecker punters have been piling into a much shorter price overnight.

England are now 9/1 to WIN the World Cup after just two games. 40% of all World Cup outright bets have been placed on the Three Lions to be victorious for the first time in 52 years since the full time whistle was blown in Novgorod.

Harry Kane is currently the favourite to win the Golden Boot and there is now a sense of optimism amongst fans for the first time in years.

The match against Belgium will determine whether England will finish 1st or 2nd in the group and who they will face in the round of 16. Depending on who Southgate’s side draw, the 9/1 may be shortened further.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek; “England have had the perfect World Cup campaign so far. Qualifying before Belgium was always the task and now fans can begin to dream about a successful tournament.

It’ll be interesting to see who they draw in the next round for sure. The tournament feels wide open, so England definitely have a chance of glory.”
