Wolves' return to the big time has resulted in bookmakers pricing them as seventh favourites to win the Premier League.
Despite only just being promoted, Nuno Espírito Santo's side is as short as 100/1 with one bookmaker, although odds range to 300/1 best price.
They’ve proved popular with punters as well, being the fourth most popular bet over the last week with 8.7% of all bets on the outright winner.
The Premier League new boys are a very short price to finish in the top half, with bookies pricing them up at 11/10. That’s shorter than the likes of Southampton (11/8), Crystal Palace (9/4) and Newcastle (9/4).
For perspective, Newcastle’s return to the Premier League saw them penned as a 1,000/1 shot to win the league at the start of last season. At the same time, Brighton were 1,500/1 and Huddersfield were priced at 2,500/1 to go all the way and win the league.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Most clubs are merely looking to consolidate their Premier League status after promotion, but Wolves will have loftier ambitions than that.
“The boys from the Black Country continue to make signings, such as Rui Patricio from Sporting, that suggest that they will not need a transition season before competing at the top half of the table.”
