63% of all bets on the outright winner have been placed on Rangers since he took charge
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are the most backed team to win the Scottish Premiership next season, despite Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic being penned as large favourites.
Since the appointment, 63.31% of all bets on the eventual winners of the league have been placed on the Ibrox club, with Celtic accounting for just 22.49%.
Rangers are currently an 8/1 second favourite to capture the title at Gerrard’s first time of asking, but that price is not putting off punters.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “A cool sense of optimism has swept over those at Rangers, with Gerrard’s appointment leading to a wave of money on them winning the league.
“Celtic head into the season as short price 1/10 favourites, and equally short as 4/1 to win the treble, but the Scottish public are not putting their hard earned cash on the champions – and plumping for Rangers surmounting 55 instead.”
