An eleventh hour move has seen Barcelona drop from 33/1 to 4/5 fav to sign the Brazilian winger.
A host of English clubs have been linked with Bordeaux’s Malcom this summer, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Everton and even Fulham having been reportedly interested in the winger.
AS Roma were the ones who put their chips on the table first, as they announced yesterday they had reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 club for his transfer. Bordeaux also released a statement confirming the news.
As this broke, bookies cut Malcom to 1/8 to move to the Italian capital, these odds implying a near certain 88.9% chance the deal would be completed.
Yet that wasn’t the end to the saga, as European giants Barcelona came knocking at the eleventh hour. Barcelona’s odds came crashing down and they leapfrogged Roma in the betting market, tumbling from 33/1 all the way to 4/5 favourites. Meanwhile Roma drifted from heavily odds-on to 5/4.
The transfer is still up in the air and could go either way, but bookies have Barcelona as slight favourites to secure the Brazilian’s signature.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek ‘All Roma had to do was dot the i’s and cross the t’s but Barcelona may have just snatched the deal from under their noses.
Malcom would certainly get more game time at the Stadio Olimpico but the pull of the Spanish giants is often too hard to resist.'
