The Blues look to snatch a player from under the nose of Serie A giants.
Leon Bailey lit up the Bundesliga last season, bagging nine goals in his thirty appearances for Bayer Leverkusen, making him one of Europe’s hottest properties. The Jamaican-born winger was rumoured for a World Cup call-up by Gareth Southgate, however this never came to fruition.
Despite not featuring in Brazil, the Leverkusen star has still made the back pages during the summer with a rumoured transfer away from Germany. The media have continually stated that Roma sit in the box seat to complete the signing, but it now appears another player will be snatched from under their noses.
With Eden Hazard looking likely to move away from Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are in the market for a replacement. Yesterday, their odds shortened to sign Cyrstal Palace winger Wilfried Zara, and now it’s Leon Bailey.
Pre-World Cup you could have backed the transfer happening at 12/1, however this has been cut to 5/1, with one bookie even going as short as 3/1 this morning.
