Triumphant Atletico Madrid backed for domestic and European success

82% of all bets on the La Liga winner have been placed on Simeone’s side since last night.

Atletico Madrid have had their odds cut on winning La Liga and the Champions League , following their 4-2 win over Real Madrid in last night’s UEFA Super Cup.

Diego Simeone’s side have been cut from 9/1 before last night’s performance into as short as 6/1 to repeat their heroics of winning the league back in 2013/14. They're also now as short as 10/1 to win Europe's most prestigious trophy.

Since the Super Cup finished last night, a whopping 82% of all bets have been placed on Simeone and co winning the title over both Real Madrid and Barcelona, whilst also accounting for 62% of bets placed on the Champions League.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, have been shunned following their first competitive match without Cristiano Ronaldo, attracting just 1.5% of all bets on who will be crowned champions.

As of this morning, Barcelona are favourites for La Liga at 3/4, followed by Real Madrid (2/1) and then Atletico (7/1 best price).

Man City are as short as 9/2 for Champions League success, just ahead of Juventus, Barcelona & PSG.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “It's a bit of a surprise that it has taken this long for Atletico's odds to shorten given the state of flux that Real Madrid find themselves in.

“In this new post-Ronaldo era Los Blancos may have a struggle on their hands to be the best team in Madrid, let alone Spain.”
