QPR receive six times more bets than anyone else for Championship relegation

The Hoops are pointless and winless, with Steve McClaren under immense pressure.

It’s been a tough start to the Championship for several teams, but none have had siuch a turbulent few weeks as Queens Park Rangers.

Four losses, just two goals scored and a whopping 13 conceded mean the R’s are marooned at the bottom of the table and it’s looking like a tough season already for the West Londoners.

Steve McClaren wasn’t the most popular choice among supporters after he replaced Ian Holloway at the end of last season and it looks like fans may have been right in being wary as the club look to recover from their latest defeat: a 3-0 drubbing by Bristol City at Loftus Road.

There’s been further movement overnight in the relegation market and QPR are now a best price of 7/4 to go down, a far cry from the 9/2 that was available at the start of the month.

It seems that punters are being very quick to condemn McClaren’s side too, as a huge 35% of bets in the last week have gone on them to be relegated, six times more than anybody else in that period.

It’s a long way back to Bolton who have just 6% of total bets and are the next best backed team. They are 7/2 to go down after starting the season with two wins and a draw.

The only team that have shorter odds than QPR are Rotherham, who are now odds-on to be relegated after another loss last night, this time at home to Hull. They are 5/6 best price for the drop.

Elsewhere Reading and Ipswich are 2/1 and both still looking for their first win, while Birmingham are 9/2.

Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “It’s been a chastening start to life at QPR for Steve McClaren and you'd think that he does not have a lot of time remaining to turn things around at Loftus Road. Their odds have been slashed for relegation to 7/4, and it’s understandable that punters are keen to put their money down, but the huge sums we are seeing (six times more than any other club) shows how poor the first four games have been for the R’s.”
