Pressure on Jokanovic at fever pitch: Bookies price up next Fulham manager

After slumping to another defeat against Huddersfield, all eyes are firmly on Jokanovic and beyond.

Fulham recorded their eighth loss of the season against Huddersfield on Monday night in what was already their worst start to a top-flight campaign in club history. Now sitting bottom of the Premier League with five points, the already mounting pressure on manager Slavisa Jokanovic has reached fever pitch.

The Serbian is now clear favourite in the market to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post, moving from 11/8 before the game to 8/11 after the final whistle. 55% of bets in the last 24 hours on this market have gone on him.

Bookies have responded to this seemingly imminent departure by pricing up some possible replacements at Craven Cottage. The current market leader is former Manchester United and Everton boss David Moyes, out of work since his short-lived tenure at West Ham, who is priced at 7/2.

Moyes is followed by the ever-present relegation battle maestro, Sam Allardyce, at 6/1. Meanwhile, third in the market is current Hebei China Fortune boss, Chris Coleman (7/1), who started off his managerial career with a four year spell at Fulham.

Fulham fans will be most concerned with the movements in the Premier League relegation markets, with their side now slipping to 4/7 to go straight back down.

Huddersfield had failed to score in their first five home league games this season, blanking in their previous seven top-flight matches, before their 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage saw them leapfrog Fulham at the foot of the table.

Another unwanted record chalked against Fulham is that no other team has ever conceded more goals in the opening ten Premier League games of a season, letting in an astounding 28 goals so far.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Something has to give at Fulham after their woeful start to the season, we’ve been watching the odds on Jokanovic leaving getting shorter and shorter for weeks.”

“With the likes of Moyes and Allardyce leading the running, the markets suggest that a wealth of Premier League experience will be the key criteria for any new recruit.”
