The striker could put an end to his Chelsea woes with a move back to Spain.
Bookies have slashed odds on Alvaro Morata ending his Chelsea nightmare by moving to La Liga side Sevilla in the January window.
Priced at 9/4 yesterday, he’s now as short as 3/4 to make the switch. That’s an implied probability of 57.1% that the move goes ahead.
A player not used to regular football during his spells at Real Madrid and Juventus, Morata has struggled with the pressure of his reported £60 million price tag when joining Chelsea in 2017. A string of poor performances this season have left him looking devoid of confidence.
Maurizio Sarri chose not to field a striker in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup defeat to Spurs last night, with Morata not making the squad. Despite scoring a brace in the FA Cup at the weekend, reports have continued to roll in that Morata is eyeing a move away and bookies have responded accordingly.
The 26-year-old is now priced at 4/7 to leave Chelsea, with AC Milan the next in the market behind Sevilla. An unlikely move back to Real Madrid is 14/1, while a return to Juventus is priced way out at 50/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Everything about Morata’s body language at the moment suggests he’s not enjoying his football at Chelsea.”
“With reports of another big name coming in at Stamford Bridge, he could find himself way out of the picture on current form. Bookies think it’s highly likely he’ll move back to Spain in an effort to reinvigorate his career.”
