The Premier League winner is favourite to move to the North East this month.
Middlesbrough have been installed as the clear favourites to sign ex-Chelsea stalwart John Obi Mikel, following a stream of bets on the move.
Tony Pulis’ side are just 6/4 to sign the midfielder this January, by far the most likely destination for where Mikel will end up.
Boro are the punter’s pick as well, with 68% of the early money for Mikel’s next club being placed on the Teeside club.
Elsewhere, Premier League side Crystal Palace are second favourites at 7/4, followed by Fenerbache at 3/1, any Chinese team at 8/1 and Newcastle at 16/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “John Obi Mikel has won every trophy there is to win in England and Europe, so would prove a major coup for a Championship side.
"It might seem he has been around for ages, but the Nigerian is still only 31 and has many more years left at the top level."
