Tottenham 99% likely to go trophyless for 11th season in a row

Bookmakers are certain Spurs go empty handed once again this year.

Tottenham Hotspur went crashing out of the League Cup and FA Cup in just four days and as a result have been cut from 3/10 to 1/100 to win no trophies this season.

Whereas last Wednesday (23rd January) the bookies gave Spurs a 76.9% chance of not winning anything, they now make it a near certainty that they will once again go empty handed.

Despite Pochettino being lauded by pundits and journalists alike, this would be the first decade since World War 2 that Tottenham will have failed to win a single major honour.

This stat makes the Argentinian’s dismissiveness of winning trophies in the light of their defeat to Crystal Palace even more remarkable, claiming ‘It only builds your ego. The most important thing for Tottenham right now is to always be in the top four.’

Even the top four is not a guarantee for Spurs as they continue to struggle without key players. You can get odds of 7/2 that the North London side will finish outside the Champions League places this season.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Spurs’ search for a trophy looked to finally be fruitful, with Pochettino’s men still in four different competitions up until last Thursday.

“However, after being dumped out of two competitions in just four days - and being touted as 80/1 to win the Premier League and 33/1 to win the Champions League – it certainly looks like it’ll be the first decade since Winston Churchill was Prime Minister that Spurs will be trophyless.”
