Juventus slashed to favourites to sign Gary Cahill

A bizarre late move could see the centre-half lining up next to Cristiano Ronaldo next month.

Reports suggest Juventus are making a sensational Deadline Day move for Chelsea captain Gary Cahill.

Bookies have dramatically slashed the odds from 50/1 to 6/1 today, which makes the Italian Champions favourites to sign the centre-half should he leave Stamford Bridge this month.

Juventus have just let defender Mehdi Benatia go and may see Cahill as a perfect short term replacement. The 33-year-old has won all there is to win in England and Europe.

Other clubs the Champions League winner has been linked with are former club Aston Villa (7/1), Crystal Palace (8/1) and Arsenal (8/1). He remains 1/2 to stay in West London.

Oddschecker spokesperson, George Elek: "A 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the Coppa Italia and an injury to star centre half Giorgio Chiellini has got the rumour mill whirring, but to see the Old Lady delve into her purse to sign out-of-favour Gary Cahill would be one of the most shocking panic buys in recent memory.

"Bookies aren't ruling it out, and though he's likely to stay put, it might not be the last we see of this today."
