Two away draws haven’t stopped bookies cutting odds on City and United.
Following a dominant 2-0 for Manchester United in the final FA Cup fifth round tie at Stamford Bridge, the draw has been made for the quarter-finals of the competition.
It’s the Manchester clubs that lead the market to win the trophy, despite away fixtures for both clubs. Here are the games and the outright odds for each team to win the competition.
Swansea City (125/1) v Manchester City (11/13)
The current Premier League leaders will have to make the long trip to South Wales to face a Swansea side that have just dispatched of Brentford 4-1 in the fifth round. City, however, are in imperious form and just cannot stop scoring goals. They overcame a valiant effort from Newport County, also winning their tie 4-1. A complete mismatch, bookies have written off Swansea in this one, expect a huge price on the home side.
Wolves (11/1) v Manchester United (7/2)
Nuno’s men had been heavily backed by punters following their victory over Bristol City. Having knocked out Liverpool earlier in the competition, many see this is the perfect opportunity for a cup run for Wolves. However, they will have to face a United side that have just brushed aside Chelsea. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s revitalised team look hungry for silverware and have been cut from 7/1. This could be the most interesting game of the lot.
Watford (14/1) v Crystal Palace (16/1)
Another all-Premier League tie here and the most even on paper as Watford host Crystal Palace. Watford scraped past QPR in the last round, while Crystal Palace comfortably beat Doncaster Rovers 2-0. Having knocked Spurs out in the previous round, Palace fans will see this is a winnable game and a chance to avenge the 2-1 league defeat last month.
Millwall (50/1) v Brighton (20/1)
Millwall keep marching on in this year’s competition, stunning Everton with a 3-2 win at The Den in the fourth round, they saw off gutsy AFC Wimbledon to reach this stage. Brighton haven’t had the easiest fixtures so far, but have managed to overcome Bournemouth, West Brom and Derby County on their way to the last eight. The odds suggest Millwall’s resolve will finally subside.
