Out-of-work manager could take over from Santiago Solari at the Bernabeu.
After Tuesday’s Champions League exit, it seems that Real Madrid may return to a familiar face to take over from Santiago Solari.
Jose Mourinho has become an ODDS-ON shot at 8/11 to take over the Spanish giants for a second time, after being 11/10 a few days ago.
Not only that, but he’s been backed by 62% of total bets in the next manager market in the last 24 hours, driving his price down in the process.
Mourinho’s name was being sung by a number of Madrid fans outside the ground after their 4-1 loss to Ajax in the round of 16.
With Real out of all silverware contention, the move for Mourinho could happen sooner rather than later, with the 56-year-old keen to rebuild his reputation after his acrimonious departure from Manchester United.
Mauricio Pochettino is second-favourite at 7/2, with Zinedine Zidane now just 5/1 (in from 16/1) to make a sensational return to the club he left last Summer.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho may not have seen eye-to-eye at all times, but his time in charge at the Bernabeu was successful. He may see the club as a perfect stage to remind the football world just why he is the ‘special one’.
