Premier League flop leads race to replace Darren Moore at West Brom

Bookies have priced up who will be West Brom manager at the start of next season.

Former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is the 5/2 favourite to be in charge at West Brom for the first game of the 2019/2020 season following the news of Darren Moore’s sacking.

The Serb was sacked by Fulham in December having steered the club to promotion but ending up in a perilous position at the foot of the Premier League.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson is next in the market at 3/1, while ex-Huddersfield boss David Wagner is 5/1.

Sitting fourth in the Championship table but nine points off the automatic promotion places, the club’s decision to sack Darren Moore was met with shock despite a string of disappointing results.

After a particularly below par draw with bottom-club Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, the Baggies’ hierarchy lost patience with 44-year-old Moore.

Having taken over back in April 2018 after the exit of Alan Pardew, Moore will now hand over to first-team coach James Shan until the end of the season.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Darren Moore’s sacking just shows the ruthless nature of football clubs. Sitting fourth in a league as competitive as the Championship is no longer seen as good enough, even at such a crucial point in the season.

“Slavisa Jokanovic did a fine job at Watford in a short space of time to get them promoted to the Premier League and then achieved the same feat with Fulham, but the latter part of his tenure at Craven Cottage was nothing short of disastrous.”
