Cardiff are fancied for improbable survival after winning relegation scrap.
Brighton have been the most backed team in the Premier League relegation market following their 2-0 defeat to relegation rivals Cardiff. They’ve shortened from 12/1 to 11/4 to go down, while Cardiff have drifted from 1/12 to 4/11.
The Seagulls now sit just two points clear of Cardiff and the bottom three, though they do have a game in hand. Chris Hughton’s side have attracted 68% of bets on the market in the last 24 hours.
Cardiff entered today’s fixture priced at 12/1 to stay up in places, whereas now bookies make Neil Warnock’s side 10/3. Brighton have subsequently drifted from 1/14 to 1/4.
The Bluebirds have four fixtures ahead of them where they will hope to pick up precious points, hosting title hopefuls Liverpool before clashes with Fulham, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
Brighton, meanwhile, will have to contend with a horror run-in of Wolves, Spurs, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester City.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Liverpool fans will be wincing at the thought of a Cardiff City side buoyed by the slim hope of Premier League survival.
“Though it would be a phenomenal effort, this relegation battle certainly isn’t a foregone conclusion, with Brighton’s five remaining fixtures looking extremely daunting.”
