Bookies have priced up the possibility of a key player missing out against Huddersfield.
Bookmakers have revealed odds on Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea missing out on a starting spot for their next game. They make it 7/2 that the Spanish shot-stopper is axed from the first XI.
Following a series of costly howlers between the sticks, United’s star man has come under severe criticism from fans.
The most recent error came during Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Chelsea, when de Gea parried the ball straight to Marcos Alonso and conceded a hugely important equaliser in the process.
This comes just days after the Spaniard was twice beaten at his near post against Manchester City in the derby and the anguished cries still ring round the Nou Camp after he let Lionel Messi’s shot dribble into the net in the Champions League.
Considered one of the best in the world in his position and certainly one of the few players to consistently perform for United through thick and thin, cracks have begun to show of late.
Now some are questioning whether calamity Dave’s indisputable starting berth could be under threat, with the possibility of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking de Gea out of the firing line for their clash with Huddersfield this Sunday.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “David de Gea's importance to Manchester United in the past few years cannot be overestimated, but there is no doubt that his current form is costing them a chance of a Top 4 finish.
“He did make an important save from Higuain late on in the game against Chelsea, but his clangers could see a change in the sticks for United.”
