Aston Villa back in the Premier League after play-off final victory

Villa are odds-on to stay up in 2019-20 according to bookies.

After three seasons away, Aston Villa are back in the Premier League after beating Derby County 1-0 at Wembley.

The Football League founder members are expected by bookies to avoid a swift return to the Championship, with the Midlands side priced at 10/11 for relegation, and 4/5 to stay up

That makes them less likely to survive than Norwich and more likely than Sheffield United, who are 5/6 and evens to stay up respectively.

Derby have now had play-off heartbreak four times in the last six seasons and remain in the second tier. They are 4/1 for promotion next season

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Villa had all the momentum coming into the play-offs and they’ve ridden that wave all the way to the Premier League. Dean Smith deserves enormous praise and a chance to keep the Villans up next season.

If they do keep the likes of Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings, they have every chance.”
