Patrick Vieira cut from 50/1 to 7/2 to take over at London club

The former Arsenal captain could be set for a remarkable return to the Premier League.

Patrick Vieira has been cut from 50/1 to 7/2 in the last 7 days to be the next Chelsea manager, in what could be a sensational return to English football for the ex-Arsenal skipper.

Whilst Maurizio Sarri is still in a job at the Blues, he is now as short as 1/4 to take over at Juventus following Max Allegri’s departure from the Old Lady, implying an 80% chance he will be in Turin next season.

Vieira has enjoyed a decent season, finishing 7th in Ligue 1 with Nice but punters are not convinced by the speculation, only placing 4.3% of bets on the Frenchman in the last week.

The man being most backed is Chelsea hero Frank Lampard who has received 37.5% of bets and remains the bookies favourite at 4/9. As mentioned, Allegri is now out of a job and looking for work. He is priced second in the market at 2/1.

A shock manager being backed to come back for a third spell at Stamford Bridge is Jose Mourinho, who has received 12.8% of bets and is available at odds of 16/1.

Oddschecker spokesperson, Ali Thrupp: "Vieira did a cracking job at New York City and the Nice job looks to be a decent stepping stone, but whether MLS success and seventh in Ligue 1 is enough to impress Premier League clubs yet is another matter.

There are rumours linking Javi Gracia to a move to Stamford Bridge and if those persist the 16/1 about the Watford boss won't last long."
