They’re now clear favourites to sign the striker ahead of Italian outfit Parma
Bookmakers have unanimously cut odds on Mario Balotelli returning to the Premier League, with West Ham being heavily punted as the striker’s next permanent club.
The Hammers have been slashed from 6/1 into 5/2 to secure the services of the Italian firecracker, making them clear favourites at the top of the market.
That’s due to an influx of bets over the last 72 hours, with 28% of all bets on Balotelli’s next club all backing Manuel Pellegrini’s side to get their man.
Elsewhere, Italian side Parma are second in the running to sign the controversial forward at 7/2, followed by another Serie A outfit in Fiorentina at 5/1.
A move across the pond is the next most likely at 8/1 for any MLS club, with any Chinese Super League club next in the running at 10/1.
Having only been promoted to the Premier League last season and finishing comfortably in the top half, Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves are also 10/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Never shy from the limelight, Balotelli grabbed the headlines yet again this week – but not for footballing reasons.
“Allegedly paying an Italian bar owner €2,000 to drive his scooter into a river is one of the more mundane ‘pranks’ that we’ve come to know from the firebrand over the years.
“Hammers fans will hope he can keep the Premier League side afloat next season, and not sink towards the Championship without the likes of the recently departed Marko Arnautovic.”
