He's the next in a long list of rumoured transfer targets for the La Liga champions.
Bookies have slashed odds on Manchester United centre-half Victor Lindelöf signing for Barcelona from 7/1 into 9/4.
As usual the rumour mill has been sent into a frenzy by comments from Lindelof’s agent suggesting that a ‘great European club’ have expressed an interest in signing his client.
The 24-year-old made 40 appearances for United in all competitions last season and his performances improved considerably under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Having moved from Benfica for £31 million back in 2017, the Swedish international had a torrid time initially under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.
The Catalan giants are linked with a host of names this window, amidst whispers of financial unrest at the club.
Neymar (1/1) and Antoine Griezmann (1/10) are still the most likely signings according to the markets.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “This rumour brings back memories of Thomas Vermaelen’s curious move to the Nou Camp.
“Victor Lindelöf is still at an age where he has room to improve, but he’s hardly set the world alight since his big money move to United so this link comes as a surprise.
“He was a mainstay in Solskjaer’s line-up last season, but his mistake-riddled start to life at the club is still a very recent memory.”
