Marcelo Bielsa is looking to bolster his squad for another promotion push next season
Leeds United are priced at 5/1 third favourites to sign ex-Arsenal and Barcelona centre-back Thomas Vermaelen on a free transfer.
The Belgian is currently looking for a new club after his contract expired at the Nou Camp, where he won four La Liga titles in five years.
However, Roma – where he was on loan two seasons ago - lead the race for his signature at 2/1 whilst a move to the MLS is priced at 5/2 by bookies.
Another defender that could be on his way to Elland Road is Gary Cahill, who is also looking for a new team after being released by Chelsea. He is odds-on to make the move at 4/11.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "Available this summer as a free transfer, there are a few Premier League clubs that could do worse than take a punt on Thomas Vermaelen.
"The fact that a Championship club could bring in the highly experienced defender should be music to the ears of Leeds fans.
"Vermaelen has over 250+ professional appearances, with a hefty amount of them being made for clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona. Not a bad replacement for Pontus Jansson, perhaps."
