The Mullingar man has attracted 8% of all bets since teeing off yesterday
Shane Lowry is blowing his competition away at Royal Portrush, and at the bookies, with the Irishman installed as the odds-on favourite heading into the final day of the Open Championship.
The 32-year-old was pitched as a mammoth 70/1 shot pre-tournament, although that price has completely disappeared.
Lowry is now an 8/15 clear favourite to win the Claret Jug today, which is an implied probability of 65.2% that the grizzly Irishman wins his first major.
His closest challenger in the market, Tommy Fleetwood, is 4/1 to win this weekend, followed by American superstar Brooks Koepka (12/1) and Justin Rose (20/1).
Having set the early pace of the weekend, American J.B Holmes is fifth favourite at 33/1, followed by Rickie Fowler (50/1) an Rahm (66/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “An electrifying third day for Shane Lowry now sees him perched at the top of the leader board on -16, eclipsing the 54-hole scoring record in stunning fashion.
"Neutrals will be hoping to hear plenty more roars from the Irish contingent, although punters will still have a glimmer of hope for the well-fancied Brooks Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood."
