European giants slashed from 10/1 to 6/4 to sign Gareth Bale

Punters have flocked to the market following Zinedine Zidane's comments.

Gareth Bale’s time at Real Madrid looks to be all but up and bookies have reacted by slashing odds on him moving elsewhere.

Bayern Munich now top the list of potential European destinations, slashed from 10/1 as far as 6/4 since the early hours of this morning.

The 30-year-old was left out of the Real Madrid side for their 3-1 pre-season defeat to Bayern Munich in the USA.

Though assuring reporters it was not personal, Zinedine Zidane made it very clear that the club were doing everything they could to facilitate Bale’s exit.

As a result, the German side now top the list of his suitors according to the odds. With 22% of bets in the last 12 hours, they’re narrowly the most backed too.

The consensus elsewhere is that any Chinese club are favourites to sign the Welshman, as short as 4/6 in places.

Several bookies had Chinese clubs odds-on yesterday, but those odds have since drifted in light of the activity on the German champions.

A Premier League return remains on the cards according to the market, with some bookies pricing Tottenham and Manchester United as short as 3/1.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “We knew early on this would be one of ‘those’ transfer sagas.

“It appeared it would be Manchester United at the heart of it, previously odds-on favourites to sign Bale. However, with his exit now seemingly a priority for Real Madrid, it looks like it could simply be down to the highest bidder.”
