The Spurs boss has been financially hamstrung in recent windows, but the £54M signing of Tanguy Ndombele this summer suggests Daniel Levy is prepared to finally spend big.
Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon is a player that Poch has been chasing for some time, and the 19-year-old is now 1/25 to finally make the move up to North London – it’s happening.
It would make Sessegnon the second teenager to join Spurs’ squad after Leeds winger Jack Clarke was snapped up at the start of the month. It would cost Spurs anywhere between £25-40m to acquire Sessegnon’s signature, but with Poch’s track record with young players, it’s surely worth a punt.
Another saga which has been dragging on for some time is Giovani Lo Celso’s prospective move to Spurs. The Argentine has now been cut to 1/16 in this regard, following Nabil Fekir’s arrival at Real Betis. It’s likely both Lo Celso and Sessegnon will complete their moves in the coming days, as all the major roadblocks appear to have been circumvented.
And finally, while it seems all a little 2018, there are still question marks over the future of Toby Alderweireld. Curiously, if the 30-year-old’s £25M release clause is met by Thursday, he’s free to leave Spurs. However, the Belgian has suggested he’s happy to stay in North London, meaning previous favourites to sign him, Roma, have drifted to 7/4 in the market.
The long-touted move to Manchester United also looks unlikely, as the Red Devils have drifted to 10/1, while a return to Atletico Madrid is as long as 25/1.
