The Geordie giant is currently a free agent having left West Ham.
Newcastle United are now as short as 1/10 to re-sign Andy Carroll. That’s an implied probability of 90.9% that the striker returns to his boyhood club.
The 30-year-old left Newcastle in a £35 million move to Liverpool back in 2011. Having played for the club throughout his youth career, he went on to score 31 goals in 80 senior appearances for the club across five years.
Carroll’s career has been blighted by injury over the past few years, leaving him struggling for game time and firmly out of the national team picture.
He made just 14 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season, scoring once in the FA Cup.
Following the expiry of his contract at the London club, Carroll is now a free agent, meaning he could be signed outside the transfer window if needs be.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “With Joelinton’s arrival at St. James’ Park, Steve Bruce will be hoping he’s sorted for attacking talent. However, bookies still reckon he’s on the lookout for some Premier League experience up top.
“Newcastle remain favourites to sign Charlie Austin at 13/8, and a move for Carroll now looks likelier than ever.”
