The Baggies are well-fancied to make Premier League return
Bookmakers have cut West Bromwich Albion’s promotion odds to just 9/4 following the arrival of Charlie Austin to The Hawthorns.
The 30-year-old has scored 68 goals in 129 Championship appearances for Burnley and QPR.
Slaven Bilic’s men were as long as 10/3 just a couple of days ago, but their impressive deadline day business has seen 22% of punters back the Baggies for promotion.
Leeds and Fulham are heading up this market, priced at 5/6 and 5/2 respectively, but with bookies taking evasive action following Austin’s arrival, Albion have overtaken Cardiff as third-favourites.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Many Baggies fans would’ve wondered where the goals would come from this season following the departures of Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle.
“But with bags of Championship pedigree under his belt, it’s little surprise punters are impressed by Austin’s arrival.”
