Wan-Bissaka preferred to Alexander-Arnold by punters following porous Kosovo performance

Competition is heating up for the right back spot in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2020 squad

Despite not playing a single minute for England on Tuesday night, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has received twice as many bets as any other player to make the Euro 2020 squad since the final whistle.

The Man Utd full back is yet to represent the Three Lions at senior level and has only made five appearances for the youth teams. He is priced at 15/8 and has received 14% of bets on the market since the result.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is known for his attacking prowess and less so his defensive work. He played 90 minutes against Kosovo and allowed their left winger to score a brace, meaning punters are steering clear of his short odds at 2/5.

The slight favourite for the right back spot is 48-cap Kyle Walker at 4/11, whilst Kieran Trippier is all the way out at 5/2 as he has failed to build upon his impressive World Cup in 2018.

Joe Gomez remains an option for Gareth Southgate but it is thought his best position is at centre half. The versatile defender is 4/11 to make the 23.

Oddschecker football writer, Ryan Elliott: "It's little surprise that punters are taking a shine to Wan-Bissaka, as the 21-year-old continues making a name for himself as a defensive wall.

"Shipping three goals at home to Kosovo isn't a good look, so Alexander-Arnold and co. will rightly be looking nervously over their shoulders as Euro 2020 looms."
