Plymouth Argyle backed to win League Two title following 4-0 thrashing

The Pilgrims have been subject to a flurry of bets…

A spate of bets have been placed on Plymouth Argyle winning League Two, following their 4-0 humbling of Leyton Orient last night.

In fact, a whopping 81% of all bets placed on the eventual winner have backed Argyle to finish top over the last 24 hour.

That’s resulted in bookmakers cutting odds from 16/1 into as short as 9/1 to top the table come the end of the season. A best price of 12/1 is still available as Argyle make their way up the table at a rate of knots.

In doing so, Plymouth are now sixth favourites to do exactly that, only trailing the likes of Crewe (3/1), Bradford (6/1), Swindon (15/2) and Newport (9/1).

Leading football stats site, WhoScored.com, revealed that only Crewe and Cheltenham (both 26) have scored more goals than Plymouth (24) in League Two this season

Also, only Crawley (12.7) are creating more goal-scoring chances per game than Plymouth (11.1) in League Two this season

Argyle are also incredibly active at working the keeper, with only Crewe (5.4) are having more shots on target per game than Plymouth (4.9) in League Two this season.

Zak Rudden and Callum McFadzean both made WhoScored.com's Team of The Week, with ratings of 8.2 and 8.0 respectively (attached).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The top of League Two looks devilishly competitive this season and pre-season favourites for promotion Plymouth are right in the mix.

“Crewe are currently heading-up England's fourth-tier, but after Ryan Lowe's promotion from this division with Bury last season, Pilgrims fans have every reason to be hopeful that their manager can repeat the trick at Home Park.”
