Chris Hughton and Michael O'Neill named joint-favourites for next Stoke boss

Tony Pulis is the current second favourite...

Northern Irish boss Michael O’Neill is the joint-favourite to take over at Stoke City, following the sacking of Nathan Jones.

The 50-year-old is 3/1 clear favourite at the top of the market, alongside Brighton boss Chris Hughton (3/1).

Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has had his odds cut from 6/1 into 4/1 in the last hour, making him the same price as Stoke legend Tony Pulis (4/1).

Neil Harris is 6/1 in the running, with Jose Gomes on the periphery at 10/1.

Aitor Karanka, who knows a thing or two about the Championship is 14/1, followed by Nigel Pearson (14/1) and Lee Bowyer (16/1).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “The days of Nathan Jones’ swashbuckling Luton Town side dominating League One seems a lifetime ago, as the Welshman’s inevitable sacking by Stoke finally came to a head.

“A string of individual mistakes haven’t helped the Potters’ cause this season, but always it’s the manager who pays the ultimate price.

“Chris Hughton and Michael O'Neill have both enjoyed great success in recent years, so they deservedly head-up the market.

"Hughton has a claim to being Brighton's most successful manager in history, while the work O'Neill has done with Northern Ireland occasionally defies belief.”
