The Special One could soon be the Spurs one…
Jose Mourinho has been installed as the odds-on favourite to become the next permanent Spurs manager, following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino.
The Special One is as short as 1/3 to be named the next permanent manager of the North London side, as punters flock to back the Portuguese manager to take over.
In the half-hour after his sacking, 53% of all bets have backed Mourinho to take over from the Argentinian, leading to his odds shortening considerably.
Spurs have reportedly drawn up a shortlist of potential managers to succeed Pochettino, ahead of their tie with West Ham this Saturday (November 23rd).
Carlo Ancelotti is the second favourite to be handed the job at 17/2, followed by Massimiliano Allegri (14/1).
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is 16/1, with Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe following next at 16/1.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “Mauricio Pochettino has provided Spurs fans with memories which will last them for a lifetime, but his tenure ultimately ended without any tangible success to show for it.
“Serial winner Jose Mourinho is the favourite to succeed Poch, and while his abrasive personality and rugged style of football may deter some, his trophy cabinet suggests he’s not to be underestimated.”
