The Arsenal legend has replaced Nuno as the clear favourite
Ex-Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg is the new favourite to take over as next Arsenal manager, being cut from 10/1 into 2/1 best price.
Wolves’ manager Nuno Espirito Santo was the odds-on favourite to take over following the sacking of Unai Emery. However, he is no longer the market leader.
Nuno was the most popular bet over the last 24 hours with 31%, only a fraction more than Ljungberg (29% of bets).
The Wolves manager has drifted out to 5/2 to be handed the reigns at the Emirates Stadium.
Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta is the third favourite at 8/1, followed by Mauricio Pochettino (10/1).
Leading football stats gurus WhoScored.com revealed that Arsenal are also conceding the third-most shots per game (16.8) in the Premier League this season (behind Villa (18.5) and Norwich (17.4))
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "It always felt a little strange that Nuno Espirito Santo was being so heavily punted for the Arsenal job considering his success at Wolves.
"While the Portuguese boss is still the favourite for the Emirates hot-seat, a recent trend of club legends returning home has seen Freddie Ljungberg punted into second-favourite.
"The Swede played over 350 matches for Arsenal, and judging by Frank Lampard’s success at Chelsea, recruiting a man who knows the club inside-out may not be the worst idea.
