Having been priced at 50/1 before the game, he was earlier cut into as short as even money, with 7/2 the best price on offer at the time of writing.
A photo was circulated on social media seeming to show the Croatian manager outside Goodison Park prior to the early kick-off between Everton and Chelsea, sparking a wave of betting activity.
The game itself saw the Toffees shock Chelsea with an impressive 3-1 win, under the stewardship of interim manager Duncan Ferguson.
Ferguson certainly got Everton playing again, and his exuberant celebrations on the touchline brought some much-needed cheer back to Goodison Park.
Bookmakers have cut odds on him taking over permanently following today’s result. He’s shortened from 16/1 into as short as 2/1, and a best price of 5/1.
Everton parted ways with manager Marco Silva on Thursday, ending a tumultuous 18 months in charge of the Merseyside club following a heavy derby defeat.
