Reports of a move away from Spurs have seen bookies price up a shortlist…
Manchester United have been installed as the early favourites to sign Harry Winks, following reports the out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder could leave as early as this January.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are the 8/1 market leaders in the race to add the midfielder to their squad, topping the market.
That’s because of the percentage of bets on that move happening, with 59% of all bets since the market opened backing the Red Devils.
Press reports suggest a move to United is the most likely outcome if Winks is to move in January, which is akin to bookies’ predictions.
Noisy neighbours Manchester City are the second favourite in the race for the 23-year-old, however, are some way off the pace when it comes to the January transfer window market at 16/1.
The other club making bookmakers’ early shortlists is Chelsea, priced at a lofty 25/1 to secure the services of the England international.
Speaking of United’s midfield crop, superstar Paul Pogba is as short as 1/1 to join Real Madrid this transfer window, although the best price of 7/2 is available with one firm.
WhoScored.com revealed that only Rodri (92.3%) has a better pass success rate than Winks (90.4%) of players aged 23 and under in the Premier League this season (it's the fifth-best. overall)
Also, compared to United midfielders, only Fred (984) has made more passes than Winks (834) in the Premier League this season.
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “"Manchester United are in desperate need of a reliable central-midfielder, and it's no surprise that the impressive Harry Winks has been identified by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
"Winks is Spurs through-and-through, but will the Old Trafford allure get the better of him?"
