Oddschecker have taken a look at the business end of the season
Premier League (Liverpool 1/25, Man City 20/1, Leicester 300/1)
Let’s start off with perhaps the least exciting title race in Europe at the moment, and, one that Liverpool don’t look like letting slip in the latter half of the season.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are currently 1/25 best price to win their first-ever Premier League, with the ‘most exciting’ league in the world, by consensus, wrapped up in January.
Pre-season odds-on favourites (4/6) Manchester City have drifted all the way out to a whopping 20/1 to win the title, with uncharacteristic complacency hurting Pep Guardiola’s side.
Memories of Leicester City’s 5,000/1 Premier League win started to come back at the start of the season, which have since faded and the Foxes are now all but out of the race at 300/1.
Serie A (Juventus (4/9), Inter Milan (7/2), Lazio (10/1)
The re-emergence of Inter Milan has certainly spiced up the Serie A title race, with the Nerazzurri well supported in the outright winner market.
Perennial Italian champions Juventus remain odds-on favourites to win the league yet again but are only 4/9 to so.
That’s because the aforementioned Inter Milan are 7/2 second-favourites, although, they are as short as 11/4 to win the league with a number of bookmakers on the Oddschecker grids.
Lazio are not out of the race by any means, according to bookies, and are 10/1 third favourites following a blistering run of form.
La Liga (Barcelona (4/6), Real Madrid (6/4), Atletico Madrid (33/1)
Elsewhere in Europe, another exciting title race is brewing in Spain, with the old guard looking set to battle it out for La Liga at the business end of the season.
Managerial changes for Barcelona have not shifted their odds-on tag for the title, with Quique Setién's side currently 4/6 to get the job done.
Los Blancos are not far behind them, however, and are creeping up as 6/4 contenders to win La Liga for their 34th league honour.
Interestingly, over the last week, a whopping 74% of all bets in the market have backed Real Madrid to overtake their Catalan rivals for the title.
Atletico are hanging on the fringes of the title race at 33/1, despite only being five points behind the top two with plenty of football still to be played.
Now, this is a title race. Reigning champions Bayern Munich are in a bit of trouble as we approach the key part of the season, and find themselves four points off the top of the table in third place.
They remain odds-on (8/15) to win their domestic league yet again this year, but the controversial RB Leipzig are looking to cause a massive upset.
In fact, Leipzig are only best price 11/4 to win their first-ever Bundesliga and are also the most backed by punters in the market over the last week with 41% of all bets.
Picking up Erling Haaland in January will not have harmed outsiders Borussia Dortmund’s chances at all, and they’re 14/1 to erase the seven-point deficit.
Borussia Monchengladbach are on the periphery at 20/1, in what could be a four-way title race in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Ligue 1 (PSG (1/100), Marseille (50/1), Lyon (300/1)
I’m going to be doing well to get four paragraphs out on this title race, aren’t I?
It will come as no surprise that PSG’s bountiful cash surplus has seen them run away with Ligue 1 for six out of the last seven campaigns.
They look set to do it again and are 1/100 to win the league (best price) despite only being five points clear at the top of the table.
The only glimmer of hope for football fans around the world are Marseille (50/1), who could have a remote chance of getting close in the latter half of the season.
Scottish Premiership (Celtic 8/11, Rangers 27/20, Aberdeen 1,000/1)
The two Glasgow giants going at it like heavyweight boxers is exactly what football fans around the world love to see, and this title race is almost too close to call.
Celtic’s hunt for a ninth consecutive title is under immediate threat from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, after falling to defeat in the most recent old Firm at Parkhead.
Gerrard’s side are now widely available at 6/5 across the Oddschecker grids, although the best price of 27/20 is available with two firms.
Celtic are hanging on to their favouritism tag by a thread at 8/11, having been as short as 1/4. Neil Lennon’s side are only two points ahead of Rangers but have played one more game.
Erevidisie (Ajax (1/10), AZ Alkmaar (12/1), PSV (25/1)
Things are running their course in the Netherlands again, and everyone’s Champions League darlings, Ajax, are now 1/10 best price to win the Eredivisie.
Their three-point advantage over second-favourites AZ Alkmaar is enough for bookies to pen them as short price favourites to retain their domestic title.
AZ Alkmaar are the only other realistic challengers in the market at 25/1, with PSV 10 points off the pace and as long as 25/1.
Primeira Liga (Benfica (13/20), Porto (15/8), Sporting Lisbon (250/1)
Finally, all is still to play for in Portugal’s top league, with Benfica and Porto set for a head-to-head battle to win the Primeira Liga.
Benfica are 13/20 odds-on favourites to take the title, with a four-point cushion at the top of the table with 16 matches played.
Porto are still well in with a chance, however, priced at 15/8 to reclaim the title.
Punters are siding with Benfica, with 78% of all bets placed in the market over the last week backing As Águias to win back-to-back league titles.
Conclusion
With all that in mind, we asked our Web Editor and Football Writer, Ryan Elliott, for his thoughts ahead of the rest of the season.
He said: "It's looking like a vintage year for European football, with many a title race promising to go down to the absolute wire.
"While Liverpool and PSG are very likely to wrap up their own respective leagues, the drama, intrigue and tension elsewhere on the continent will only skyrocket as the seasons draw to a close.
"Germany is of particular interest, where RB Leipzig, in particular, are seriously threatening to break Bayern Munich's seven-year stronghold."
Keep your eyes peeled for a European League Winner Acca, which will be available this week.
