Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back into favourite to be next Premier League manager to leave

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back into favourite to be next Premier League manager to leave

He’s overtaken Eddie Howe at the top of the market

Manchester United’s gruelling defeat to Burnley has had a seismic shift on the next Premier League manager to leave market, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now favourite.

Since the match finished, bookies have cut odds from 8/1 to as short as 8/11, with money continuing to be placed on the Norwegian being the next to go.

That’s due to the high percentage of bets on exactly that happening, with a whopping 84% of bets over the last 24 hours backing Solskjaer.

One man that may be blowing a sigh of relief is Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe, who’s been leapfrogged at the top of the market.

Howe has slipped to 4/1 second favourite following a midweek win over Brighton, although is as short as 6/4 with one firm.

Another struggling team in the shape of Aston Villa feature next, with Dean Smith the third favourite to be the next manager to leave. He’s 8/1 to do so.

If you think there won’t be any more managerial cullings, you can back ‘no manager to leave’ at 10/1.

There’s a good price differential on Daniel Farke, with the Norwich gaffer as short as 7/1, but as long as 14/1.

Leading football stats providers, WhoScored.com, revealed that United's league record, while Solskjaer was caretaker manager, was 13 games (77%), 10 wins, 2 draws (15%), 1 defeat (8%).

However, after being handed a contract, in Solskjaer's 32 games, he registered 11 wins (34%), 9 draws (28%), 12 defeats (38%).

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “It seems inexplicable that Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, continue to persevere with such an under-qualified manager.

"United have now lost more Premier League games than they've won since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took permanent charge, and you feel progression on the pitch is impossible under the Norwegian."

Next Premier League manager to leave:
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - 2/1
Eddie Howe - 4/1
Dean Smith - 8/1
No Manager to Leave - 10/1
Daniel Farke - 14/1
Roy Hodgson - 40/1
Graham Potter - 40/1
