Could the Blades hitman be in line for a move up North?
Celtic have been cut into short price favourites to sign Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp, following a flurry of bets on the prospective move.
Neil Lennon’s side have been cut from 12/1 into 11/4 clear favourites to sign the 33-year-old, despite adding Polish striker Patryk Klimala earlier this month.
In the last 24 hours, 32% of all bets on Sharp’s next club have backed the Hoops, with money continuing to come for the move.
One bookie has gone one step even further, cutting odds into as short as 5/2.
Elsewhere, Championship promotion hopefuls, Leeds United, are second-favourites to sign the striker at 9/1.
Third favourites in the market, Derby, are 10/1 to add another experienced striker to their books, after capturing Wayne Rooney.
Leading football stats site WhoScored.com revealed that Sharp had the best conversion rate of the 25 players to score more than 10 goals in the Championship last season (30.7%), scoring 23 goals in total.
However, his record hasn’t been as great recently, with the striker receiving more bookings (2) than he has goals (1).
Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: “With the Scottish Premiership title race promising to go down to the wire, Celtic will be desperate to reinforce their squad during this January transfer window, in order to get the edge over rivals Rangers.
“Blades skipper Sharp has struggled for game time this season, but will allure of Celtic coax him away from the bright lights of the Premier League.”
