From first-team strikers to e-sports professionals, Oddschecker unveil the five teams you must follow during the FIFA Ultimate QuaranTeam.
Crystal Palace – represented by Andros Townsend – 50/1
The Eagles are being represented by perhaps the most high-profile footballer in the tournament: Andros Townsend.
The ex-England forward is well-renowned for his love of FIFA, and his first task will be to beat Reading in their first round clash – and with so much attention surrounding his Ultimate QuaranTeam campaign, Townsend will be desperate not to crash out immediately.
Palace are as short as 25/1 to win the tournament—though 50/1 is available in places—but this potentially awkward trip to the Madejski Stadium must first be navigated.
Brighton & Hove Albion – represented by Neal Maupay – 66/1
Brighton are another Premier League club being represented by a first-teamer in the shape of striker Neal Maupay.
The Frenchman has netted eight times on the pitch this season, and he’ll be hoping to add to his tally behind the controller as he prepares to face wildcards Sparta Rotterdam.
Odds for the Seagulls to win the competition outright range from 33/1 to 66/1, but with the Dutch renowned for their excellent e-sports teams, Maupay may be in for a tough opening bout.
Blackburn Rovers – represented by Bradley Dack – 66/1
Blackburn talisman Bradley Dack’s season was ended back in December with a serious knee injury, but his free time at home playing FIFA will finally be put to good use.
Dack and his Rovers side are set to make the daunting trip to the bet365 stadium, where Stoke City await – a tie which has all the makings of a brutal domestic dust-up.
Once again, odds for Blackburn to win the competition stretch from 33/1 to 66/1, although the bookies seem confident they’ll beat the 100/1 Potters.
Manchester City – represented by MCFC Shellzz – 10/1
While many well-known footballers representing their clubs will doubtless drum up some excitement for the tournament, many clubs are deploying world-ranked e-sports pros – and are going all-out to win the whole thing.
Shaun Springette, AKA MCFC Shellzz, has been in the FIFA scene for a number of years since he burst onto it back in FIFA 17 where he unfortunately lost in the final of The Championship Series against the current world number 1 ‘Vitality Rocky’.
After his emergence on the scene he then teamed up with another big name in FIFA e-sports, ‘Huge Gorilla’, to form the first UNILAD FIFA e-sports team until making his move to Man City in late 2018. He is currently ranked 63rd in the world on PS4.
City are as short as 8/1 to win the 128-team tournament, although 10/1 is still available with some bookies.
Watford – represented by Hashtag Tom – 14/1
Tom Leese (Hashtag Tom) is currently ranked as the third-best player in the world on PS4 so will more than likely be the highest ranked player in the tournament. A very experienced player having multiple appearances at the highest level of FIFA tournaments receiving thousands of pounds in the process, Tom also represents England alongside the number one FIFA player in the world: ‘Fnatic Tekkz’.
